Game 12 | Twins, 1 — Pirates, 4 | July 8
Ballpark Summary
Three Rivers Stadium is located adjacent to downtown Pittsburgh,
at the junction of the Ohio, Allegheny, and Monongahela Rivers.
We parked downtown and crossed the Roberto Clemente Sixth Street
Bridge. The view was impressive, but completely obstructed inside
the ballpark by the 360 degree arena.
Ballpark Perks
We got six dollar tickets that put us two rows back in left CF. All the
general admission outfield seats are decent, but the early birds
get the good ones. The outdoor turf here was well kept and the crowd
was lively considering the opposition (Minnesota Twins). The new
ballpark for the 2001 season is just blocks away. Its yellow brick
and blue steel structure appears to be situated a la Pacific Bell
Park, with an Allegheny River splash landing within reach of a
left-handed slugger.
Ballpark Downers
Just the standard downers for an arena park. The artificial turf, the
closed in atmosphere, and the many empty seats for a baseball game.
