Game 09 | Phillies, 7 — Brewers 4 | July 4
Ballpark Summary
County Stadium in Milwaukee was the site of this July 4th showdown
between two 4th place powerhouses, the Brewers and the Phillies.
Brewers closer Bob Wickman #27 ruined our chance for home team win
#7. With a 4-3 lead, he blew the save and then some, shamefully
leaving the mound with the Brewers down by three runs.
Ballpark Perks
County Stadium is small enough to make you feel comfortable. Maybe
that’s why I saw two members of the Phillies bullpen (including
former Giant Chris Brock) in full uniform in line at the concession
stand. I kid you not. I told them the Bratwurst was great, but I
think they were just getting beers.

The Bratwurst and secret County Stadium sauce was great, and it
was a steal at $3. Although a small crowd, the fans were into the
game and happy to see their Brewers play ball.
Ballpark Downers
Unfortunately, County Stadium is very run down. The WWII era metal
panels clinging to the stadium walls were rusted and haggard. Bill
Kelly was quoted as saying, “It was the ugliest minor league
ballpark I’ve ever seen.” That about sums it up.
