Game 13 | Orioles, 5 — Phillies, 4 | July 9
Ballpark Summary
Cinergy Field, oops, Three Rivers Stadium,
oops, Veterans Stadium was the last stop along the Ohio-Pennsylvania
artificial greenbelt. The pre-game highlight occurred when Will
Clark stole the Philly Phanatic’s ATV and gave the keys to somebody
in the stands.
Ballpark Perks
The crowd was okay, not as ruthless of a bunch as we were expecting. The Philly
Phanatic rules. By far the best mascot so far. The “Phan Zone”
behind the bleacher seats is pretty cool. There’s a pitching simulation
booth that lets you pitch to a hitter of your choice. There is also
a booth that lets you take a swing with a previously used baseball
bats. They had a Tony Gwynn bat and a Barry Bonds bat.
Ballpark Downers
Regardless of the outdoor turf phenomenon,
the turf wasn’t even well kept. The shades of football hash-marks
and Eagles logos glared at you from the turf. If local broadcasters
panned to an overhead view of the ugly field, they would be banned
from the team’s plane ride and scolded by management — oh wait,
this isn’t Atlanta.
Also, the Phillies.
Also, the Orioles.
We also paid 19 dollar for outfield seats. For two
dollars less we could have sat right behind the dugout, but it was
a cash only kind of deal and we came up a little short. The 7 dollar
general admission tickets were for sky-high upper deck seats.
