Game 26 | Red Sox, 7 — Rangers, 3 | August 11
Ballpark Summary
The Rangers toil in the Texas heat 81 times a year in Arlington,
about 30 miles west of Dallas. The new field looks somewhat like
a brick fortress, with the Texas star branded in cast-iron throughout
the broad corridors.

Ballpark Perks
The seating arrangements at the park are well thought out. The rows
are angled towards the infield to afford a better view to fans down
the baselines. The RF upper deck seating is close to the game and
completely shaded, a la Tiger Stadium. There are real bleachers
in CF, and a patch of grass in the batter’s eye, where anxious kids
scramble for HR balls. Beyond CF are a variety of attractions. Much
appreciated misters, a Nolan Ryan statue, a mechanical bull on this
night, and a whiffle ball “mini-baseball” park for the youngin’s
(played not on grass, but FieldTurf – see Tropicana Field).

Ballpark Downers
Although the crowd came out in good numbers for this Friday night
game, their enthusiasm was sub-par. Maybe because for all 39,911
fans in attendance, there were exactly 5 misters – all in CF. More
misters.
